The result of a chance one-off breeding from a 'pale' female, a series of butterflies was produced with some males depicting the most striking mutant aberration - The famous Golden Cairns Birdwing!

Around 40 Golden males (Of varying quality) were produced prior to the strain becoming untenable.

One pair once famously advertised on ebay for $20,000!!!!! (I'm not sure it made the bid!)

Available ONLY as a limited edition of 40 framed pairs - each individualy signed and numbered by Butterfly Replicas' artist Mike G, we present the ultimate ornithoptera aberration.

As striking as the male is, much work has gone into producing the pale female which we think is it's equal in terms of beauty.
